About

Polyester is made from petroleum (crude oil), and clothes made from these synthetic fibers are wrecking your hormones.

Most of us have become increasingly aware of how much our modern world exposes us to hidden toxins, whether it's plastics in our water or chemicals in our food. But what shocked me most was learning that one of the biggest sources of daily exposure isn’t what we eat or drink: it’s what we wear.

Our skin is our body’s largest organ. It absorbs what it touches. And yet, nearly 70% of the fabric touching our skin is made of plastic.

These fibers don’t just sit on our skin, they shed. Wearing a single polyester shirt and shorts for just 20 minutes can release over 100,000 microscopic plastic fibers into the air around you. About half stay floating in your breathing zone, while the rest settle on your skin and the surfaces around you.

What That Means for Your Body

When synthetic fabrics shed, they release microplastics and toxic chemicals like BPA, phthalates, and aldehydes that are known to disrupt hormones and interfere with the body’s endocrine system.

Microplastics have invaded our bodies. They are found in alarming concentrations in nearly every human blood sample, lung sample, and in 100% of human testicles

The male and female reproductive systems are typically impacted the most by the microplastics that your clothes smother you in

Sweat dramatically increases absorption of these chemicals through the skin, meaning workout clothes and athletic wear are often the worst offenders.

In laboratory models, microplastic additives penetrated skin tissue in just hours, with up to 8% of the dose absorbed.

So many times, performing healthy activities like exercising in lightweight, breathable polyester, is actually suffocating our skin in toxins it can’t escape.

But It’s Not as Simple as Just Avoiding Synthetic Fibers...

The truth is, we can’t easily get away from these fabrics.

Organic, natural fiber alternatives exist. But imagine the cost of replacing your entire wardrobe with these pricey options. Shirts, shorts, socks, pants, underwear, pajamas, pillowcases, bedsheets, blankets, and any other fabric that spends time on your skin during the day. It would take a small fortune to make this conversion, and even if you could afford to do this, who wants to replace their entire closet? We all have a favorite shirt, clothes attached to memories, expensive items, or clothes that were a special gift. A full wardrobe conversion is just not reasonable for most of us.

On top of those hurdles, polyester is durable, cheap, and everywhere. The percentage of our clothing that is synthetic is increasing, not decreasing.

To make matters worse, 90% of our clothes are dyed synthetically and treated with harsh chemicals regardless of whether they are made of natural or synthetic fibers. Additionally, washing safe, natural fibers in the same load of laundry as synthetic clothing deposits the dangerous chemicals on to them anyway...

So instead of fighting a losing battle to replace my clothes, I decided to fix them.

How KindThreads Keeps You Safe

KindThreads is the first natural laundry additive designed to make your synthetic clothing safe for your skin and hormones.

After hundreds of hours of research, I identified nine natural active ingredients that can capture microplastics, VOCs, BPA, heavy metals, PFAs, dyes, phthalates, and aldehydes released during the wash and form a lasting, invisible barrier on your clothing that prevents future shedding and skin absorption. A literal shield to protect your skin from chemicals!!

KindThreads leaves clothes soft, fresh, and free of endocrine-disrupting residue. Polyester clothing also traps and amplifies body odor; KindThreads reduces this significantly.

Think of it like a detox for your wardrobe. It uses the simple act of washing your clothes to protect your skin and hormones every day.

How KindThreads Also Reduces Plastic Pollution

When I started KindThreads, my goal was to protect our skin and hormones, but I quickly realized something pretty incredible: every wash treated with KindThreads also protects the planet.

Washing synthetic clothing is one of the world’s largest sources of microplastic pollution. Every time we do laundry, it is estimated that 640,000 to 1,500,000 microfibers can flow from a single load into waterways, where they end up in rivers, oceans, and marine life. (Some research estimates up to 7,000,000 per wash).

By trapping and neutralizing microplastics before they leave your washing machine, KindThreads helps reduce the invisible pollution that’s suffocating ecosystems.

Over 35% of ocean microplastics come from textiles. These plastics have been found in fish, shellfish, and even bottled water. Filtering them out in the wash means fewer plastics in the food chain, and therefore fewer ending up back in us.

So when you use KindThreads, you’re not just protecting your body, you’re protecting the Earth too.

Why I Need Your Help

I’ve taken KindThreads as far as I can on my own. The formula is built on proven, research-backed ingredients, but before we can share it with the world, we need to fund lab testing and manufacturing to finalize its safety, efficacy, and sustainability.

The next steps for KindThreads with your pre-order:

Lab testing: Verifies microplastic capture rate, chemical binding efficiency, and skin-safe performance.

Final formulation: Minor tweaks may be needed after results.

Sustainable production: I’m committed to eco-friendly, toxin-free packaging that aligns with our mission.

Your support will directly fund these next steps.

KindThreads isn’t just a laundry product, it’s an attempt to change how we think about the clothes we live in. We can’t eliminate synthetic fabrics overnight, but we can stop them from harming us. I want to ensure that everyone has access to a non-toxic life, starting with an affordable way to feel safe in their clothes.

Join me in making our wardrobes work for us, not against us.
